Shroud of Turin

Copy of the shroud of Turin.  (According to the museum, all official copies of the shroud have touched the original shroud.)

The Shroud of Turin is an old linen shroud with the image of a crucified man. Many believe it's the image of Jesus Christ and the that this cloth was used to wrap his crucified body. Many studies have been performed on the Holy Shroud, in fact it may be the world's most studied artifact. So far there's no conclusive evidence to either prove or disprove these beliefs.

The original storage box of the shroud
Agree deciding that a wooden box might not be the safest place to keep the shroud, it was placed in is metal box, decorated with bright jewels and it was wrapped around a cloth covered metal pole, with weights attached to keep it pulled tightly to decrease wrinkling.
Another copy located in the church that houses the museum.

Finally the ORIGINAL Shroud of Turin!
You can not see the actual shroud unless you get lucky enough to be in Turin when it is on display (only happens like every 10 years or so.  This piece of cloth has changed possession many times and has been through two fires and is now housed in the Cathedral of Turin, which is dedicated to St John the Baptist, mother patron saint of Turin.  It is located just to theft of then alter, in the chapel of thenHoly Shroud.
At the top of the chapel is the royal box where the Savoy family used to sit and at the bottom is the new conservation and display case which houses, conserves and protects the Shroud.
