I started my visit with the Blue Grotto. Got on a fast boat with a hot Italian captain and was off around the island to the "grotto distribution center". At the distribution center, you get in the small and I mean small boats that are rowed by a gentleman as you sit and eventually lie of the floor of the boat in groups of 3-4.
Once you are in your boat, your rower fights his way through the crowd to pull you through at just the right point on the wave, into the grotto. The grotto was actually an ancient Roman nymphaeum-a romantic retreat for hanky-panky.
After the Blue Grotto visit I headed up the hill on the funicular (an electic cable car) to Anacapri to catch the chairlift up to the highest point of the rock, Monte Solaro. The Faraglioni Rocks were amazing in the beautiful blue water! In one of the pictures with the rocks, look just to their left and you will see a pink building...this was an American R&R base during World War II, Eisenhower and Churchill met there.
